Promoting wellbeing – The Colour Monster

We have been super busy over the last weeks and now we are into the swing for our last term this year, we ae focusing on project themes each week. To coincide with Mental Health Awareness week 2 weeks ago, we introduced our new friend ‘Colour Monster’. Colour Monster is our promoting wellbeing mascot and is inspired by the book ‘The Colour Monster’ by Anna Llenas. We discussed what emotions we can feel, how emotions make the body feel and created expressive self-portraits of ourselves – this allowed children to explore with their self-identity and be able to name and explain different emotions, which all contributes to being able to emotionally self-regulate and promote emotional intelligence. Every week we will incorporate fun, silly, celebratory activities that promote a sense of positive self-image, laugher and light-heartedness. Which is something we can all do with from time to time!
