For our third week of our planning cycle and as part of our weekly project themes, Ms Mulhern and the children explored the story sack ‘Mrs Rainbow’ – a story by Neil Griffiths. This story is about a colourful character, Mrs Rainbow and her incredibly colourful life. All was well until the council decided that things had to change… But with the help of the local villagers, colour and light is restored! Mrs Mulhern used the story to inspire the theme of colour this week. The range of activities involved investigating and exploring colour using a range of materials and techniques. The children weaved Mrs Rainbow’s hat, created Mrs Rainbow’s colourful house, explored ‘fluffy paint’ and created colourful characters! The children reenacted the story using puppets and painted a big and bright rainbow together. A wonderful, colourful adventure during these wet and dull January days!
