Week 7 (1st – 4th March) theme – The Rainbow Fish

For our seventh week of our planning cycle and as part of our weekly project themes, Ms Mulhern and the children explored the story sack ‘The Rainbow Fish’ – a story by Marcus Pfister. This story is about a very colourful fish who is reluctant to share his colourful scales with the rest of the fish. The rainbow fish soon realises that in sharing his scales, he will feel much happier. So, Ms Mulhern decided to use the themes of ‘Sharing’ and ‘Under the Sea’ for the week. The children created a ‘Sharing Fish’ in which the children could add a shiny scale to the fish every time they shared within the group! The children were very busy creating a wonderful Under the Sea display – they made silver foil fish, colourful stuffed plastic bag fish, coffee filter hanging jellyfish, paper craft octopuses and individual seascapes! A beautiful and vibrant display of colour and shine, using a wide range of materials. Well done to everyone!
